. Apple's long-awaited AirPower wireless charging mat and a new version of AirPods with wireless charging support and upgraded Bluetooth connectivity will start shipping in the first half of 2019, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo also expects a new iPod touch with a faster processor to launch in 2019. While there's been a flurry of recent rumors about the AirPower and 2nd generation AirPods, there have also been conflicting reports on the possible launch dates for the two products. One recent report specifically placed the launch of the new AirPods in the fall of 2019. We were skeptical about that report at the time, and now Kuo gives another reason to believe that the new AirPods and AirPower will be shipping in the first half of this year... . Source link
Apple releasing ‘all-new’ 16-inch MacBook Pro and 32-inch 6K monitor this year – The Verge

Apple releasing ‘all-new’ 16-inch MacBook Pro and 32-inch 6K monitor this year – The Verge

Technology
. Apple is planning an ‘all-new’ MacBook Pro design for this year, well-connected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said in a research note obtained by MacRumors. The lineup is reportedly led by a model with a screen of between 16 and 16.5 inches, which would make it the biggest screen in a Mac notebook since the 17-inch models stopped being sold in 2012. Kuo says the lineup may also include a 13-inch model with support for 32GB of RAM; right now only the 15-inch MacBook Pro can be configured with that amount of memory. An all-new design would be a little surprising, since Apple only released the first Touch Bar models in late 2016, more than four years after the previous Retina display models were introduced. On the other hand, this design hasn’t been universally popular, with ...

Apple Said to Launch 16-Inch MacBook Pro With All-New Design in 2019, May Add 32GB RAM to 13-Inch Model – Mac Rumors

Technology
. Apple will release a new MacBook Pro with a 16-inch to 16.5-inch display and an all-new design in 2019, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Tonight, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a research note looking at Apple's releases in 2019. MacRumors has obtained a copy of the report and perhaps the most exciting prediction for Mac users is the revelation that Apple is working on a 16"-16.5" MacBook Pro. Unfortunately the report provides few details beyond that it is an "all-new" design, suggesting Apple is revamping their current MacBook Pro design. A 16"-16.5" screen would be the largest screen Apple has provided on a MacBook Pro since the discontinuation of the 17" MacBook Pro in 2012. Close followers of Apple's MacBook Pro refresh cycle have been expecting Apple to continue with th...

Galaxy S10 could be all that, but the original Samsung Galaxy S was a confusing mess – CNET

Technology
. One of the original Galaxy S phones from 2010 (the Galaxy Captivate). Josh Miller/CNET As we await the release of the Galaxy S10 on Wednesday, the Galaxy S name represents the top of the Android world. It's a reputation Samsung is proud to own for its flagship phone, and rightly so. But in 2010, you may not have even known you were buying a Galaxy S at all. When it went on sale, the Galaxy S was just another Android phone fighting for attention in a crowded field. It's a different world since Samsung introduced the first Galaxy S phone nine years ago. Flip phones are nearly gone from the Earth, "smartphones" are now just phones, and making a call is an afterthought, if you...

In Another Blow to Physical Media, Samsung Is Done Making Blu-ray Players – IndieWire

Technology
. In bad news for proponents of physical media, Samsung has announced that it is exiting the Blu-ray market. The company said it “will no longer introduce new Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray player models in the US market” in a statement shared with CNET. Its newest model was released in 2017, and plans to produce a new high-end 4K player this year were scrapped. The move follows a similar decision by Oppo, which announced its own exit from the market last April. All of the figures will come in premium box packaging, and feature exclusive artwork provided from Blizzard. They worked very closely with them on the figures and it shows. The first figures from the line include Tracer, Sombra, Lucio, a huge Reinhardt, and Reaper with huge weapons. Two-packs will include Soldier 76 and Ana, and a ridiculously cool Phara and Mercy that pictures do not do justice. Whi...
